Roles and Responsibilities



  • The role would involve deciding what data needs to be picked up, gathering of data and improving the quality of data. Market research on consumer behaviour is also in the ambit of this role.
  • The research can be initiated at any department of the organisation – Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, HR, Accounts.
  • A good understanding of statistics and current data management software is essential.
  • A basic common sense approach where causation and correlation are not confused will be useful.
  • The person must be numerate, must be able to understand and explain variations and trends and have an all-round understanding of different parts of the business.
  • Academic background of data analytics and hands on experience of use of data would be useful.
  • An exposure to statistics as well as a good understanding of spreadsheets is needed.
  • Data Analytics will deal with arriving at business insights based upon sales and offtake data, production and accounting data, and macro-economic data.
  • The role involves looking at data to identify opportunities, point out mistakes and pick out trends in consumer behavior which may be relevant to the Company.
  • Persons with a mathematics and statistics background, those who are able to work with various data management software, and those who are good at interpreting data may apply irrespective of their graduation background.
