Key Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist Intern you will work on projects that impact millions of Amazon customers. Your duties etc. will include:

  1. Statistical methods and data-driven problem solving and improvement of customer experiences.
  2. Pattern, predictor, and causality analysis of business issues (multiple business problems) and model building (forecasting, prediction).
  3. Performing deep analysis to unearth areas of the business where we can add significant value and communicating your findings with clear, practical, and actionable recommendations.
  4. Working alongside cross-functional teams, being responsible for quantitative analysis, and developing novel solutions with the latest tools and technology.
  5. Deep diving into data to resolve issues at their core rather than just only fixing symptoms at the surface.

Basic Eligibility

To be eligible for this internship, applicants must:

  1. Be 18 years or older.
  2. Be able to participate in full-time (40 hours per week) internship, with no other professional obligations including classes or other internships/employment during the full duration of the internship.
  3. Provide a signed letter from their university indicating the availability from an authorized individual upon beginning their internship.
  4. This internship is a full-time and intensive one. All test dates or other significant academic dates should be shared early with the hiring team.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

While not mandatory, candidates with the following technical skills will have an edge:

  1. Experience in data science tools such as R, SAS, Matlab, and SQL.
  2. Familiarity with data transformation, model training, cross-validation, and large-scale model deployment.
  3. Hands-on experience with machine learning and deep learning libraries, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, MXNet, and Caffe.
  4. Exposure to big data platforms like Apache Spark and Hadoop.
